UW Sports Program
UW Sports Ministry offers soccer, basketball, and cheerleading at its summer camps. UW has a 5-day curriculum for each sport that all interns and coaches will receive. They will also be taught the curriculum during training in Oklahoma.
Each day at camp there will be three sports sessions of 35 minutes each. The first session will a technical session where campers will be taught the new skill for that day. The second session will be more tactical and how to use the skill in a game-like situation. The third session will be more game and scrimmage oriented.
The skills for each sport are:
Soccer
Monday- Dribbling
Tuesday- Passing
Wednesday- Trapping/Throw-ins
Thursday- Heading and Shooting
Friday- Goalkeeping and Review
Basketball
Monday- Ball Handling/Dribbling
Tuesday- Defense/Shooting
Wednesday- Passing
Thursday- Rebounding
Friday- Review Day
Cheerleading
The cheerleaders work on a dance and a cheer all week that they perform the last day of camp for everyone. They also cheer for the soccer and basketball games on Friday.
During the week they learn the elements of cheerleading including arm placements, jumps and stunts.
Team 45
The Team 45 program is offered at the same time as sports camp, allowing pre-school children to work on gross motor skills as well as some basic sport motions. Spiritual themes are the same as sports camp but written and taught with age appropriate concepts.
